Dinosaur Park had its beginnings within the dreams of Gold Canyon residents Marlene White-Miller and her close friend Kim Johnson. After multiple community meetings, the forums culminated in Marlene and Kim receiving “Right to Use” authority to build a Park on a section of land owned by the Apache Junction Unified School District (AJUSD). After this kind and gracious “Right to Use”, hundreds of Gold Canyon and Apache Junction citizens, community groups, clubs, and organizations banded together to make the Park reality. Early on in the Park’s history the Association for the Development of a Better Environment (ADOBE) took over responsibility for the Park and maintained this authority until 2021. In 2019, Pinal County officials signed an Agreement with the AJUSD that the Park would eventually become a County Park under the auspices of the Pinal County Parks Department. The Park rests in the shadows of the famous and beautiful Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain (from which the Park received its name), where citizens can relax and enjoy the serenity of this superb County Park. Dinosaur Park stands as a shining example of what can be done if people work together towards common goals.
