Medication Drop-off Sites

Improperly discarded drugs can threaten public health and our environment with the potential to poison children and animals, they can be scavenged and sold unlawfully, and can pass through sewage treatment plants and septic tanks and contaminate groundwater and soil.

We all can do our part to reduce accidental poisoning and drug abuse, and prevent pollution by taking unwanted medication to a proper disposal site.

Opioids are natural or synthetic chemicals that reduce feelings of pain. Opioids are a class of drugs that include pain relievers available legally by prescription such as oxycodone, hydrocodone (Vicodin), codeine, and morphine, as well as heroin and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. Anyone who takes prescription opioids can become addicted to them or develop a tolerance for physical dependence.

Thanks to the Arizona Department of Public Health, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office is able to provide Narcan, an overdose reversal nasal spray, free to the public without a prescription.
