PCSO to continue speed enforcement details thanks to AZGOHS grant

A PCSO deputy checks vehicle speed using radar

In addition to daily traffic and speed enforcement by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit, Pinal County Sheriff's Office Deputies also conduct regularly scheduled speed enforcement operations. Since October 2022, PCSO deputies have issued 276 speed citations, and another 150 other citations during these speed enforcement details.

Thanks to financial support from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS,) we are able to continue those efforts.

AZGOHS recently awarded PCSO with $158,492.96 in grant funding for overtime and employee related expenses, additional training, and new speed detection equipment. In addition, the grant funding allows deputies to conduct weekly enforcement on our roadways, including going to areas within Pinal County where citizen's report traffic problems.

"Speeding is one of the top safety concerns for our residents, and rightly so," said Sheriff Mark Lamb. "Thanks to AZGOHS, we are able to intercept these reckless driving behaviors and hopefully save lives."
