TIMP Project Highlight: Arizona Farms Asphalt Overlay

Pinal County’s Road Maintenance and Improvement Fund provides the essential revenue for transportation projects not only in the county but also in our cities and towns as well.  In fact, since its renewal in 2005, the fund has provided over $25 million to the Town of Florence for essential transportation improvements.

One of the key projects funded by the program was the asphalt overlay of Arizona Farms Road. Beginning in 2019, Arizona Farms Road received a significant facelift. Thanks to the Road Maintenance and Improvement Fund, the town was able to address potholes, cracks, and numerous safety concerns along the town’s portion of the roadway extending 4.7 miles east and west of Cooper Road.

In completing two projects totaling $1.8 million, the town milled the existing road and applied a fresh, full-width asphalt overlay which greatly improved shoulder safety and conditions on this vital corridor. Not only did this voter-approved funding provide essential improvements to this road for local residents, but it also helped strengthen a vital connection between Florence, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, and other communities in the Southeast Valley.
